First things first, I am not a doctor, nor do I want to be. The info contained on this blog and in this post are for informational purposes only. Please, please do your own research and for goodness sakes if you aren’t sure about something consult your doctor, midwife, shaman…whatever…just make sure it’s advice from a healthcare professional!
Ok, with that being said, these are the oils I will be using up to, during and after delivery of my baby girl. I had planned and packed a few oils for the delivery of my last baby BUT his birth was so quick and easy I didn’t even have time to reach for my oils. However, I did diffuse them in our room after he was born and lemme tell you, not only was it super relaxing but also made me feel more comfortable. I like to keep things fresh if ya know what I mean.
A Few Weeks Before

34 Weeks// Claraderm spray, consider this your perineaum sheild. Starting at 34 weeks I spray this down there a few times a day. This will help prep your area for delivery. It’s also amazing for postpartum healing. Consider it the natural alternative to dermoplast.
37 Weeks// Perineum massage using the following 1x a day. Again, this is great prep for delivery. Combine 1oz Almond Oil with 8 drops Geranium Oil and 5 drops Lavender Oil. Here are some instructions on how-to perform the massage: perineum massage
39 Weeks// Add 5 drops of fennel oil to the above recipe and continue massages.
In Labor

Birth Blend// Use during labor (apply on ankles and abdomen). 5 ml Roller + 3 drops Helichrysum, 3 drops Fennel, 1 drop Peppermint, 4 drops Ylang Ylang, 3 drops Clary Sage + Top with carrier oil
Diffused// White Angelica, Gentle Baby, Lavender, Valor or anything that is calling to you!
Topically// I’ll have these on hand to apply as needed. Valor: for confidence + White Angelica: to keep my energy positive
Postpartum

Annointing// Apply a drop to baby’s head and say a little blessing. 5 ml dropper bottle + 5 drops Frankincense + carrier oil
Cord Care// Apply to cord stump. 2ml bottle + 1 drop myrrh + carrier oil
Placenta Release// Apply to abdomen. 5ml Roller + 10 drops Geranium + 15 drops Jasmine + Carrier Oil
After Birth Cramps// Use as needed and trust me you’ll need it especially if this isn’t your first baby! 5ml Roller + 5 drops Black Pepper oil + 5 drops Sandalwood + 10 drops Copaiba
Padsicles// I make these ahead of time and use them when I get home from the hospital. They are incredible! Recipe HERE
Claraderm// Remember that spray I was using during the end of pregnancy?! I will continue to use it postpartm to help with perineum healing. After birth I add 10 drops Onycha Oil (from the Oils of Ancient Scripture Kit) for extra healing benefits.
Peppermint Oil// I REALLY wish I had this last time around. In case you aren’t aware, if you don’t pee within a certain amount of time after giving birth they’ll likely give you a catheter. I did not want that but peeing was super hard. A drop of peppermint oil in the toilet before you sit down may help you go!
Digize Oil// You probably won’t have your first postpartum “go” before you leave the hospital but digize will be great to have on hand just in case.

Happy birthing!
XOXO- Amanda
