DIY Laundry Room Makeover

Ok friends, this might be one of my favorite diy home updates we’ve done so far. It probably has something to do with the fact that there was wallpaper involved. Something Mr. Alligood has exciled from our house…until now. I call this a baby step, mwah ha ha ha!
Alright, on to the good stuff. When we renovated our house we created a nice little washer dryer room on our first floor. But as you can see in the before picture it was literally a room with a washer and dryer. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so grateful that we no longer do our laundry in the basement. But after a year of living with the washer and dryer room we decided to upgrade to an actual laundry room.

With just a few tweaks we were able to add additional storage and bright colors (thank you wallpaper). Now doing laundry is still a chore but far less sad. I can’t take credit (as usual) for any of the actual work that would be the amazing Mr. Alligood. But listen, while he works I’m on solo parenting duty….I should really learn to use a saw.
Here’s what I chose and he installed, see I’ll take credit for the design.
1-Kitchen wall cabinets// Ikea
2- Butcher block counter// Ikea
3- Wallpaper Panel// Anthropologie
4- Baskets, Flowers, Jars// HomeGoods
5- Sea Green Paper Storage// The Container Store
6- Calvin Klein Rug// HomeGoods
7- Wall hung clothing rack// Wayfair
I’m really loving the paper storage containers from The Container Store. Each kid has a box for special artwork and little things we want to keep. Someday we’ll give them to them. The magazine holders are for stationary and menus. Also, they’re so pretty!

I’d say actual time this project probably took 4 days, but our house has a time lapse situation going on and it took a couple months to complete. But who’s counting. Also, I would like to make it clear that the beautiful counter you see here will likely be covered with questionable clean?dirty? clothes in no time.

Never forget this is my highlight real.
XOXO,
Amanda
