I love a good hack and today’s episode (listen on the podcast player below) is all about one of my new hacks.
We are talking about my spring cleaning hack that you can start now. This spring cleaning hack is helping me get my house organized and ready for baseball season. Yes, that’s a thing, I have to prepare for baseball season. Because in about two to three weeks, my world is going to be all consumed with travel baseball.
This can help sports moms
I have two boys in travel baseball. And if you are a travel ball parent, you understand, there’s a period of time where you are literally just throwing things in a bag and running out the door and coming back and doing that over and over. There’s not a lot of time for anything in between. You’re just in it trying to survive and make sure everybody is fed and hydrated. I like to get myself prepared for that season, so I don’t feel like everything is just like collapsing in on me at the end of it, even though usually it is. But this helps.
Why Organizing is so important
This hack to meant to help us get organized so that we can move through our busy lives with ease. And that is the whole point of this blog & podcast, to help you create a well designed life. Let’s be intentional, and let’s prepare ourselves for the things that we know are coming our way. Then we can enjoy the journey and not feel like we’re so scattered and frustrated.
My spring cleaning hack that I started this month is every day I do one small organizational task. I will organize or clean just one thing a day. If you play it forward you’ll see that over the course of 27 days, that’s 27 areas of your home that you’ve organized or cleaned up! What I find happens is there are so many things around us that need to be tended to. At least in my situation, I just get overwhelmed and shut down. Then nothing gets done. So for me, I have really learned to take bite size chunks out of those chores around the house so that I feel accomplished.
If I continue to do that and if I keep up with the thing that I already organized, then you can see how this is like compounding over time. All of a sudden, everything is organized and cleaned up and streamlined and donated and dealt with and has a place, and you’re you’re free from all this constant catch up.
Why Practice this Hack Daily?
The key to this hack is consistency, try to do this every.single.day. Pick a kitchen drawer for day one, then another for day two and so on. Make this a season of letting go and clearing the clutter, help your furture self breathe a little. And so that is my spring cleaning hack for you is to spend the next 20 to 30 days doing one small organizational or cleaning task a day.
If you can think of 30 areas in your home even if it’s just drawers. That could be your dresser drawers and your kitchen drawers. If all of those were organized and it only took you like, 10 min a day? That’s awesome! Imagine if you did that for a full year?!
