If you are gearing up to have your 1st or 10th baby these have to be on your “make before baby comes” list. I am so grateful I stumbled on them before having my 1st baby because honestly, I don’t know how I would have survived the first few weeks of healing without them.
Ok, so first of all….what is a padsicle you may ask? Well it’s definitely not something you eat, lol. It’s when you add a special healing liquid to pads and store them in the freezer for postpartum healing.

We’re a cloth diaper family and as such I decided I’d go with cloth pads after baby was born. I have to say, they are incredibly soft and non-irritating which I can’t say for cotton pads sold in the store. But I totally understand most people can’t get down with cloth pads, just know it’s an available option and I highly recommend it. I linked a great cloth pad etsy shop below.
I pre-make 10-12 about a week or two prior to my due date, but you can make as many as your freezer will hold! This recipe will make a mason jar full of liquid. Be sure to store the leftover in your fridge because you will need to make more depending on how long it takes you to heal.
These are amazing because they are cold which numbs the area and helps you stay comfortable while the essential oils and other ingredients were chosen for their healing properties.

ingredients
2 cups Witch Hazel
1/2 cup pure Aloe Vera Gel or Juice
15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
15 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
15 drops German Chamomile Essential Oil
Overnight Maxi Pads (CLOTH or disposable)
Aluminum Foil
Peri Bottle (the FRIDET is amazing!) or bowl and tbsp
instructions
Combine all liquid ingredients in a peri bottle or bowl.
Squirt or pour about 1 tbsp down the center of each pad.
Wrap each pad in aluminum foil and store in a container or bag in the freezer.
To use unwrap and put it on as you would a normal pad.
Best of luck mama, you’re going to do awesome!
XOXO- Amanda
