Remember that show “What Not to Wear”? Ok so here’s my what not to wear home from the hospital after delivering a baby: jeans, a thong and a form fitting shirt. Trust me, none of those things (even if they’re maternity) are going to make you feel good after delivering a baby. In fact you probably should avoid those things for the next six months, seriously.
Here’s a few ideas of what to wear home from the hospital. And side bar, if you want to wear sweats or pajama pants home that is totally your prerogative! But I know from experience that leaving the hospital always signifies a step back into reality so I like to change out of the pj’s I’ve been wearing for last 48 hours. It just makes me feel slightly human again.
Summer and Spring
1// A flowy maxi or sun dress: if you had a favorite dress during pregnancy my guess is it will be your favorite for a few weeks after delivery. Definitely consider packing it! Pictured below: Levi’s Jean Jacket, Leopard Slip Ons
2// Leggings, nursing top, kimono and sandals: basically pajamas in disguise. You’ll feel dressed but also like you could go straight to bed. The kimono also makes for a great little cover up. Pictured above: PinkBlush Kimono (get 20% off by ordering through my link!), Birkenstocks
Fall and Winter
1//Flowy maxi dress and jean jacket: again, maxi dresses are your post partum friend. The jean jacket will help you stay warm and look really pulled together.
2// Leggings, oversized t-shirt and cardigan sweater: I mean it’s a go-to fall outfit that is perfect for postpartum. I guarantee you’ll be wearing this outfit on the reg. Pair it with a cute pair of slip ons or chucks.
There you have it, some tried and true postpartum outfits that will have you leaving the hospital feeling like Heidi Klum 😉 No matter what you wear just remember to give yourself grace and know that you are truly a rockstar. You just brought a human into the world that you made in your own body. Dang girl, you can do anything!!!!
