DIY Cloth Wipe Bits

Whether you cloth diaper or not you can totally use cloth wipes! They’re so simple to use, they’re great in the wipes warmer (I use this one) and good for sensitive skin. I love these wipes because they’re just the right size and get the job done.

While you can just soak them in water before adding to the wipes warmer I can’t recommend using a wipes solution enough. Not just for the smell but the benefits it offers to baby’s skin.

I used to make a solution every time I ran out of wipes (holy time consuming!) until I finally tried making these wipes bits. Turns out, they’re super simple to make and once they’re done they will last for a month or so in an air tight container.

ingredients

1 unscented castile bar soap

1 TBS coconut oil

20 drops tea tree eo

20 drops lavender eo

silicone mold

instructions

1// Using a food processor with the grater attachment shred the bar soap. You can also use a hand grater for this step.

2// Add the shredded bar soap into a sauce pan. Add coconut oil.

3// Stir and add just enough water to cover the soap (1/2-3/4 cup).

4// Simmer and stir until melted.

5// Once the soap is melted allow to cool slightly before adding essential oils. Stir to combine.

6// Using a cup with a spout pour the mixture into silicone molds. Allow to cool completely.

7// Store in an air tight container. Add 1 cube to 1-2 cups of water and soak wipes before adding to the wipes warmer.

Enjoy!

    1. Hi Miranda! That’s really strange. As long as the soap was shredded (I used my food processor) and you’re using a doctor bronners castile soap bar it should melt. Hope that helps!

  1. This recipe does not work and I wish I’d read the 2 reviews prior to wasting my time. I used sane soap, grated and everything. I made 2 batches and both failed and would not set. Written recipe says to add 1/2 to 3/4 c of water but video doesn’t show that part. If I decide to waste more time, I may omit water. Otherwise, I’m Still searching for a castille soap bits recipe!

    1. Hi Kay! I’m sorry this didn’t work for you. I can’t figure out why it worked for me and others are having issue. Maybe it needs less water, 1/8-1/4 cup? I’ll try again and get an exact water measurement and update. Thanks for the feedback.
