I love all things skincare. It’s true, ever since I was a little girl I would find time to give myself a facial (using the steam from my curlers!) or make my own skincare mask. I haven’t always had the best skin but no matter what I have always tried to take good care of it.
Knowing Your skin
It’s really important to pay attention to what your skin is telling you. Over the years I’ve learned what my skin likes (moisture, and gentle cleansers) and what it doesn’t like (winter and anything with harsh ingredients). Whether it’s red and irritated after you use that new toner or puffy and blotchy after you eat that grilled cheese, your skin will certainly tell you when it isn’t happy with your choices. Your skin relys on what you put in it as much as what you put on it to thrive. Being mindful of how it reacts to what you’re putting on or in your body is really the first step to upping your skincare game.
Give your Skincare Time
Our skin cells go through cycles of birth, matururity and then death. This lifecycle of skin cells takes about 28 days (source). Which is why two to three months is a good timeframe to gauge whether your skincare routine is working or not. It gives your old cells have time to turn over, new cells arrive and try out your new products. All that to say, giving a new skincare routine one week and throwing in the towel is not enough time. Trust the process friends.
Winter Skincare 2022
Today I really want to talk to you about giving your skin a glow up this winter! Below are my five favorite skincare products that I use on the regular. Number five is my current fave because it is so unique, easy to use and the results are incredible! Of course it goes without saying (but I’ll say it) all of the skincare items below are natural non-toxic products.
Skincare must-haves 2022
1// Tarte Maracuja Oil– This oil is everything! It is light and non greasy, it gives my skin a beautiful glow (even in the winter) and it doesn’t clog my pores! I use it morning and night after washing my face.
2// Bloom Face Wash– This Young Living facewash has been one of my favorites for a few years. It’s so light and gentle that I can use it no matter the season. It only takes a peasized amount to wash away alllll of my makeup (eye makeup included!). I gushed about it on my Bloom Youtube Video if you want a more indepth review!
3// Gua Sha Tool– One of my favorite ways to de-puff my skin is with this tool. I’ve also noticed that it helps clear my sinuses! You’ll be a little red after using it so it’s best used in the evening but the redness goes away quickly. You’ll need to use an oil or moisturizer before doing your gua sha…may I recommend the Tarte Maracuja Oil 😉 😉
4// Illya Tinted Moisturizer– Holy smokes does this stuff make my skin glow! It’s creamy, light and can be built up for more coverage. I especially love using this in the winter when my skin is extra thirsty. Added bonus it has sunscreen, which we should wear all year long!
5// LED Face Mask– I really wanted to put this one first but decided to save the best for last! I’m sure you’ve seen this if you follow any A-List celebs. However this is not the $200 version, this my friends is the $33 version that works just as well! There are three LED colors that all offer different benefits to your skin. Red (rejuvenates, shrinks pores and locks in moisture), Blue (acne treatment) and Yellow (lightens spots and restores balance). I use the blue light when I know my skin is more acne prone and red other times. I can say that I have 100% noticed a difference in my skin after wearing this for 15 mins a day.
BONUS// Water- you guys know I’m all about drinking that water! It’s so so good for giving your skin a dewy glow. Checkout my previous ‘The Amazing Benefits of Drinking More Water’ post for tips on how you can get more water into your diet.
